Beta 8 goes 64-bit

Today Beta 8 compiled on 64-bit platforms for the first time, so beside Universal Binary for Mac OS X it will be released for 64-bit Linux and Windows x64 as well. Development of this beta is taking a little bit longer than expected but I just would like to make sure it’s really perfectly stable and usable for daily work. Thank you for your patience, I’ll be informing about this new release very soon in a little bit more detail. Regarding 64-bit version for Mac OS X, it will take a little bit longer since I’m suffering from very similar problem as Adobe does. That is because Carbon in Leopard is 32-bit only and to make 64-bit application one has to move his code to Cocoa APIs.

I’m interested if it will work on my Ubuntu 64-bit, so that all library depencies are also included.

I bought Pixel for Haiku a couple of weeks ago. I have e-mailed support to ask for an updated BeOS version (last is b6), I have tried to register on the forum (but registration was broken) and I have asked three days ago in the comment above.

If BeOS/Haiku version is ditched I want my money back!

I have a 64bit xubuntu box with 16GB of Ram and 8 CPUs waiting for this baby to be born! Hope to see something soon. Pavel, you are the man!

WHEN? Please Pavel, give some insights in what you are working on. Why is it taking already 6 months (!!) after you announced ‘before christmas?’

BFD, 64-bit. 64 x nothing is still nothing. Where is even the basic software? It’s taking longer for this beta than most software’s RELEASE version.

Guys, I bought this program about 4 years ago and gave up any hopes a long time ago.

With all due respect for Pavel .. this just a rip off as far as I am concerned. Either you sell something and keep the promise or you just leave it.

I understand that this is a lot of work but if you start something, then continue it and don;t let people down.

For sheer fun I visit this website every 3-4 months to see if something moves on and… as always it is all the same..

Why do not you go open source with this and let it grow?

I think I’m coming up on 3 years now. I bought in because I really wanted to use the final product and it really is worthy of supporting but it is looking less and less likely to come to some fruition any time soon…if ever. This is especially true for anyone not using linux/windows/mac. It’s obviously not vaporware but there is a question as to whether anything stable will ever be released. I think I would fell less ripped off if there was a regular stream of update information coming from this site. I’m not the first to echo this complaint but it seems to fall on deaf ears.

@Proxy: I agree. That sometimes releases are postponed, that’s one thing. But WHY CANT PAVEL COMMUNICATE WITH HIS CUSTOMERS?

Pavel, please… Tell us, the people who payed your income, what and why. The when is less important. But are you still alive??

  9. Cris

Pavel, I bought Pixel JUST BECAUSE of your eComStation build. When will you upgrade it? PLEASE?
I posted this same comment a few weeks ago… and now I find it’s no more here? Are you editing unwanted comments out?

  10. Proxy

Possibly not. I needed to have my license key reset and he did do that in a timely manner. Why he is so strangely silent otherwise is a mystery.

  11. krs

perhaps because pixel development is a mess and he realise that nothing serious will be available before the next year?

Pavel: you can keep my money, but if you cannot cope, OPEN SOURCE it! And write nice plugins you can sell.

    I got news by Pavel.

He is hardly working trying to resolve all the bugs.

He is also looking for funds to get paid by his pprojects and let him work on it at full time.

He did already a very big half of the job, when i will get newer news i will post them.

  14. Marko

So? Whats the status? He promised a new beta last christmas and now I hear that he has resolved half the bugs? If you are looking for funds, it would seem a great idea to update the site, get connected to your customers and who knows, there might be a sponsor between them!

Hallo Pavel, give us at least beta8 or even better a final version in a few days. This is the only way how to demonstrate, that this project is still alive.
