Cross-platform RGB, CMYK and HDR image editing and photo retouching…
In: News
24 May 2007Since there is some heavy discussion regarding delayed Beta 7, I would like to inform you that because of endless troubles with this release it was skipped and I will directly release Beta 8 in near future. It will be called Beta 8 mostly because there were still few critical unresolved troubles in Beta 7 and meanwhile I made other changes and added few new internal features.
For now I’m not reading/replying any threads in forum because I’m way too busy with this release. I’m sure moderators are doing great job and answering most of questions adressed to me, since we’re in contact by instant messaging.
I’m sorry if this caused any inconvenience, but Beta 9 will be last release before final version so I would like to solve all stability issues and other critical issues and make sure all customers are satisfied with this update.
Update: I forgot to upload latest screenshot, so here is one from Mac OS X, since Mac is my main development machine right now (after hdd crash on Linux laptop). Anyway this is the new look for Beta 8 used on all platforms as default.
RGB, CMYK and HDR image editing and photo retouching for Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and others.

I love how this program is turning out. Even the current beta is very much like Photoshop. I can’t wait for even some of the simple features, like Bicubic Image resizing. In all seriousness, once this is released this program will be a very good product.
Best of luck with version 8, man! I want to see this program become a real competitor!

I’m waiting for new beta and I’m glad you’re developing now on OS X since I found it veeeeery crashy at the moment and I really like the app looks and offers. I hope that stability issues on OS X will be solved in Beta 8 and I’ll purchase my copy then.

Hi Pavel,
please could you in future create something like really bugfix release? It’s nice that you add features, but it would be very nice to create non-buggy basic first, then add features.

Yes, I agree – final release is more important than new features.

Will there be a Ubuntu 7.04 AMD64 .deb ?

Hello Pavel,
Like ddd said, stability is much more important than a new features. In the current form Pixel Beta 6 is too capricious for real work. Sad, especially when many people had paid for it.

I agree with eimi. I’d rather have a slightly underfeatured image editor that I can actually use than a buggy one that I can’t, which is basically what Beta 6 is at the moment…
Any idea when Beta 8 will be out?

I’d rather have anything, not only promises. I really hope that beta 8 will be out _this year_

Hesperaux, you’re negative. It’s summer, and it’s quite a hot summer in Slovakia. http://weather.cnn.com/weather/forecast.jsp?celcius=true&locCode=LZIB&zipCode=292685828666
Why should Pavel bother with a damn piece of software in a hot office? It’s the time to go to a lake or to a sea. This may explain why May is the last item in the Storage section and why there’s not a word about progress from Pavel. Look into yourself, and choose: Would you brainfuck yourself in a hot office, or would you enjoy the waves?
Anyway, the present “customers” have paid partial, symbolic price for a developers’ preview version, on an “AS IS” base. There’s no place for crying about statutory rights here and claiming a new version or an update.

It’s summer time. Pavel is sure on Bahams and then on Tahiti, resting a little. Not even bugs confirmed. But maybe in September, he comes back a goes on with Beta 8.

IMHO, it doesn’t make any sense to aks for news, release dates, state of development etc. There are huge threads at the forum related to that subject, and none of them answered any of those questions. i think we simply have to wait until a new version is released.

As I bought 7 years ago in good faith, and I have no reason to think it will ever be finalised, I would like a refund as well
